Lonely Heroes

A prince once loved a princess. He thought, “I’ll be a hero worthy of her love”, and rode away.

He fought, he looked for treasures, he tried to save the world from all that’s bad.

He had his victories. Sometimes he was defeated. But every time he thought of her. “I cannot go back, not yet! I’ve lost so many times, and what I’ve won is not enough!”

Years went by. One day he had to pass through where she lived. He sneaked through buildings, praying he would not be seen. And there she was - in the middle of the street, looking at him.

“My lord, I thought I’d never see you.”

He fell on his knees and told her all he had been through. “Forgive me and let me try again”, he said.

“For all the love you have for me, I wonder. You wanted to present your life before me but never wanted me to be a part of it. For all the love you wished that I could give you, there’s something I don’t understand. You hoped one day you will deserve it but never asked what should be enough. I could have loved you. I remember. But now, it’s too late.”
